Anniversary

Greg and I got married on December 23, 2007...just 3 short years ago. Wow! 3 years and 2 babies and somehow we managed to sell out house and build a new one. We don't seem to have a track record of doing things in the order they are 'suppose' to be done. I remember when he proposed to me, he said "the correct amount of time to wait to do this is normally three years of dating, but I love you and really want to marry you". To him, everything is a specific calculation. To me, everything IS NOT. I rely on my gut and think with my heart. To some, it makes me reckless. To me, it makes sense.
True to love & marriage: I love him more today than I did then.
True to nature: I am becoming an little more like him and he is becoming a little more relaxed!

From the day we met (June 23), things have't been easy. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and with one surgery it was out. Doctors said we wouldn't have kids ( i still hate that doctor). Then a miscarriage, and then two babies, too early (sick).....It hasn't been easy. It hasn't even been normal yet! So we are waiting for normal and I think we decided this was our year!

I wouldn't change it. We can be crabby sometimes, but I wouldn't change it. I like having normal problems now, things like 'the kids sleeping in their own beds ALL night long'. And Rowen pushing her sister. Those things happen to everybody, right?

We are better, happier people. We are together. We love each other. And December 23 we celebrate that because we know we are here for a reason.

writers block

I wish I had writers block....more like chasing around a 2 1/2 year old and a newly crawling 7 1/2 month old. Maeve ate a stink bug yesterday while I was trying to get Rowen dressed to play outside. Boo! Then I felt awful because I was avoiding Maeve because she smelled l like a stink bug. WHAT KIND OF MOTHER AM I?

I leave for a much needed trip to Maine tomorrow for several reasons. 1) i need my sanity back. 2) we are going to see a really great doctor that is going to tell us some really great things. 3) i need to see my sister (it's kid of an addiction). 4) i miss Maine. 5) did i mention i am trying to procrastinate with the holidays?

Am i packed for a 12 hour trip with two little kids?

Not even a little.

But I am getting my hair done by the awesome Abby! whom i met 7 years ago! i know who travels 500 mils to get their hair done? I do.

More later....kids are waking up.

guitars...

Not sure where I am going to find the time to write, but I will update soon. I promise. Girls are sick right now and I am beyond tired. But on a good note this is what I found this weekend after taking a bath (yes. 20 minutes to myself.)

40 years of marriage celebrated.......

My parents....40 years....

We surprised them this past weekend. Their anniversary was September 5, 1970. 40 years late they have 4 kids, 2 daughter-in-laws, 2 son-in-laws, and 6 grandkids! We flew my sister and her family in from Maine to surprise them...it was GREAT! they had NO idea!
This is my brother-in-law Ed, and their son philip....who Rowen loving calls "dipper" cause she can't say her f's yet!
The whole gang at the pond, where we surprised them!
Dipper, Again!
Mom and dad and their grandkids....(L-R) Nellie, Amber, Maeve, Philip, MaryBridget, and Rowen.
We had so much fun this weekend. It was so good to be surrounded with family and such good friends!

4 months old

YAH! I am 4 months old. When I took her to her 4 month check up she was a GIANT!
She weighed in at 14 pounds 14 ounces, 25.5 inches long (really long)....and a tiny head. But thats ok. She is perfect, the doctor said. And considering the 'start' we had with her I was so glad to hear the doctor say that. She is so much fun to be around. She started smiling A LOT about a month ago and it seems like she just can't stop. Last week we found out though that she has a temper! Cry, scream, cry, scream...ect. for about two days. Then she was done. One of the biggest things I enjoy are the nights she sleeps through...ahhhh....yes, she sleeps from about 10:30 pm until about 7 am. The mamma can sleep, well, attempt to sleep. It's been a fun couple of months and I am glad we seem to be out of the woods with her blood issue. I just love watching her grow. and now I hear both of my girls up so i am out.

She is not totally into smiling on command, but i am working with her on that!

Temper tantrums & Elmo

She didn't like the hat we bought for her.....
OH WAIT! she loved the hat we got for her....
It's like living with a teenager these days. Rowen is happy one minute and kicking on the floor the next. Where did my sweet little child go? She is going to school now and I love that she gets to experience all these new and wonderful things. But what do I do when she cry's for her mamma and sister? Is it because she has been around us SO much that she doesn't like her new place? I want her to be independent (not too much) and curious and just wanting to know more of her outside world. So how long do I let her cry and whimper for mamma and maeve when she goes to school?

She LOVES Elmo. Mom doesn't love him so much. But none-the-less, she changes his diaper everyday and feeds him a bottle everyday.
I love this kid!

First Day of School

YAH! for the first day of school for Rowen. we were able to get her into the University .... and she loves it. she has made new friends and new words and wonderful new behaviors.
In this picture, she thought maybe she should take some rocks into school for her new friends!
Rowen and daddy right before we all went in to drop her off. She did so well. When I kissed her good- bye, she just looked at me and said, "bye mamma, bye dada, bye maeve-doodle! " and then we left. They said she did really well to...no whimpering!
Rowen and her lunch box...( it was her mama's when she worked at the hospital) and it sports a beautiful dragonfly! Which is her mama's favorite and secret obsession!
All around it was a great day! She was really tired when she go home and that was nice. She had so much fun and I really hope she continues to love it as much as she does now! Learning is so much fun.

Papa turns 60!

So on August 3, my dad turned 60! Happy Birthday to my dad! I am so incredibly lucky to have this man in my life!

This is Rowen realizing she is gonna be able to eat some cake! she even got her own little table!
Papa and Rowen hanging out with each other!

We all had a great time! Rowen is being a ham here. She is such a crazy girl! but so fun to be around! She has started her two year old stage...fits sometimes come and within seconds she has thrown herself on the floor. I love though she is smart enough NOT to do it on the hardwood floors!
