The Babe....

This is the rockin' babe we get to being home in a couple of weeks!
**** today she is taking big bottles (1 ounce) and is breathing without those stupid nasal cannulas!
The mamma got to hold her once again. Last night I got to nurse a little. Yippee!!!!
Headed out once again.

This is my dearest Maeve in her sweet condo.... she is baking in the sun right now. Her bilirubin levels are still a little high. She is a roller for sure! I love her little sunglasses. And you really can't tell from the picture but she has a TON of hair. I am pretty sure she has more than Rowen.
She is so sweet. I got to hold her for the first time today and you'll see that in one of the photos. She also started eating...finally! She is up to 10cc's which is like a 3rd of an ounce. The mamma has been pumping like crazy for her and not to toot my own horn....but today in one sitting i pumped 5 ounces!!!!! With Rowen after 4 weeks I couldn't get that much. How good it feels to be helping this little girl! She now weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces which is not bad at all. Babies always lose in the first couple of days. Ahhh....the moment I had been waiting for!
And this was Rowen's response when we told her she was a big sister now!!!!!!!!!
Oh how I love these two little girls!

Maeve is off her CPAP and not just on a nasal cannula that is set very low so she is receiving very little support which is encouraging. For the past two days she has taken a bottle for almost every feeding with no alarms!!! I think twice a day they give her a break and tube feed (i am SO ok with that, simply because then she wont tire so much). She still has aways to go. The doctors have given us an estimate of mid-May as to when she might come home. It could be sooner or later. It all depends on her. We just want her healthy and able to do the things she would do if she were full-term.

I think that may be all....I might go take a quick nap before Rowen wakes up.

Maeve Amelia Herb

Maeve was born on April 16, 2010 @ 12:54 am. She was 34 weeks 1 day. Yah! for Maeve.

Just a short update because Maeve has not yet come home from the hospital so we are doing A LOT of running back and forth to Harrisburg. The 'De ja vu' sensation is overwhelming..."oh wait, I have done this before". Grr....

She was 6 pounds 2.8 ounces and 18 inches long. She beat out her sister by a whole 2 pounds. YET....

Will still have an extended 'vaca' in a beautiful condo decorated with all the frills a girl could want. How can you miss someone so much that you just met???
She is breathing entirely on her own, but just too fast so she is hooked up to a CPAP. Which, with my GREAT medical knowledge, is... a tube of forced oxygen put into her nose to keep her lungs open so she doesn't have to work as hard to breathe at a normal pace.

She has jet black hair???? and not nearly as fair as miss Rowen and I are which excites me greatly. She will be able to tolerate the sun much better than we do. She is beautiful. And I wish I had pictures... It's on my 'to-do' list today. BUY CAMERA! Through all of this: Rowen is loving every minute she spends with her family. Her Nana & Pappa came down from the North to stay and play for a couple more days. My sister flew in from Maine last night with her clan in tow. Can I tell you how much I love my family!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More updates later. Headed out to spend the day with my daughters! *oh that sounds good*

Bubbles

Bubbles make everyone happy, right? Grandma Beth came over to 'babysit' me the other day and she brought these great BIG bubbles. Rowen absolutely loved them. It wasn't exactly warm outside but she played out there for a good hour. So...a little birdie told me....the EASTER BUNNY is bringing her bubbles! WooHoo!

So happy!

I am not too sure what she is thinking about here, but something big is going on inside her brain.

I love this kid! She is just the coolest! We have been having some serious trouble with our sleeping though. At night she is great! She will go down around 8pm and sleep til about 7am.
It's the naps! She used to take 2 great naps a day. we would put her in her crib and she would fall asleep by herself. Now I lay down with her in our bed and its not until 12:30pm.!!!! AHHHH......
so she might sleep a couple of hours and then that's it til she goes to bed. By 7 though, she is so grumpy. I feel bad that she is struggling with sleep right now. And I feel like its just gonna get worse with a new baby coming in a couple of weeks.

Speaking of new baby, she seems to be doing well. No new reports. Still growing, still hanging tight in her 'home' but once this shot stops everyone is thinking she's a coming out! I would love to meet her, can't WAIT to meet her...but how did this go by sooooo fast??? Don't i get more time to prepare? The panic attacks have decreased to maybe 3 or 4 a week. and them seem to be decreasing in severity too. I look forward to the day they stop altogether.

The days when its sunny and bright and warm are my favorite. Rowen and I and who ever is babysitting that day are outside soaking up the sun because on days that are overcast, I am not always a pleasant person to be around.

I do have to write about my strong, supportive, wonderful, ice cream fetching husband.....
* He has been a life saver. In every way. He takes such good care of me and of Rowen. He comes home from work every day and picks up where someone else has left off. He never really gets a break or time to really breathe. I wish more people could see what he is going through too. Not so that they would feel bad for him, but so he could have some sort of support group. He needs sounding boards! he is such a good person and sometimes he keeps it all tucked away because he doesn't want to "bother" people. *****oh, how I love that man.

** It must be late or early because I hear the birds! I love love love spring! It makes me so happy inside!
